A Trip to the Cat Clinic

Image
It's official! The kittens have been registered at our vets and finally have names. We got through a few first. There were lots of awe some options. None of my suggestions were successful. Ninjin and Kyo didn't go down well at all. As for Jimin and Rap monster …that just got blank stares. So Kitten A is BARNABY and Kitten B is PIPPIN . Also known as Barney and Pip . They weren't very impressed when we put them back in the cat carrier. Barney was shaking again. I think he thought he was going to yet another new "home." When we got to the Cat Clinic (we never use the "V" word-the Dog goes to the Doggy Doctor) they were both very well behaved . They ignored all the dogs that were there and enjoyed being told by several people that they were cute and adorable . Those peo ple don't have to clean up their poop every morning... However, Barnaby took an instant dis liking to another pet owner and hissed angrily at her. I ...

Adorable Acrobatic Monsters

It's nearly been a week since I brought the kittens home. It's been a week since I met them at the Shelter. Did you know kittens have no boundaries ? I go to the toilet and Kitten B wants to be involved. He thinks he's very helpful, rubbing his tiny body against my ankles and trying to reach my knee. Kitten A is more interested in shower time. More precisely, when shower time is over and he can try to catch stray droplets of water ! As for names, we're still arguing.... Kitten A is getting braver though. He's still hissing and my tail-wagging Dog but only when he thinks she's getting too close. We had a very close encounter over the last two days. Kitten A was almost at the bottom of the stairs when he fell through the bannister . My dear Dog went to check if he was okay . He panicked  and hid under the stairs, h i s s i n g and bopping his paws about.  My Dog's a bit dippy . She thought this was friendly and tried to play...

Toe Tapping Trouble

I never fully understood the function of one of these until yesterday . The humble " pooper scooper ." Now I understand that it's a necessity ! It's been years since Frodo buried a poop , so I'd forgotten about the digging and f l i n g i n g of cat litter about. And of course, Kitten B copies everything that Kitten A does. Sometimes at the same time ... They really don't fit in the tray together . But they do it anyway . The Kittens have been living with me for two full days now and have still not been named, I like to wait to see an animals character before they are officially labelled. Character is something that they are not lacking in. Kitten B has discovered my toes. He think's they're brilliant . Especially when they wiggle . Regardless of whether they are encased in a sock or not. He especially likes to tap the big one on the right foot. Not sure why he is obsessed with that particular toe . But ...

Homecoming

"Whose clever idea was it to get two!?" I've used that phrase more times than I can remember in the last 24 hours. A few weeks ago I lost my cat Frodo Waggins . I'd had him for almost 17 years. Although I have my best friend in the world, a 6 1/2 year old Springer Spaniel, there has been a crater -sized hole. I missed my boy and his excellent rodent wrangling skills. My heart was crunching away when I said " Where's my good boy? " to my rat (not the formentioned rodent being wrangled) and she searched for Frodo. So, we considered adopting a kitten. Why not an older cat? Simply because we'd introduced our previous dog to Frodo when he was a kitten and it went well . Enquiries were made. Kittens were missed . Then a ginger blob appeared as I was skimming through Facebook . One of the local rescue charities had two little kittens. I showed the Boss of the house and before I'd had time to think, we were rushing down country ...
